In this week’s winter truck camping adventure, Toby and I stayed overnight at Rock Lake campground in the peaceful Pillsbury State Forest.
With the campground deserted and full of snow, I ventured out onto the ice in search of panfish. Though the fish eluded me, the real catch was the breathtaking orange sky reflecting off the ice. Back at camp, we had the place to ourselves, making for a quiet evening by the fire, where I roasted a sweet potato over the coals.
The next morning, we enjoyed a final tranquil walk before heading home to fix my stepson’s truck brakes.
