At @heatheeskitchen we believe that sometimes you owe it to yourself to just throw a sandwich together for meal prep. Here are some tips for when you do.
1) Toast ππ» yourππ» bread ππ» This will help keep the sandwich from getting soggy as it sits in the fridge. I made 4 of these sandwiches and the last one I at still had all of its integrity
2) To a similar point, choosing a crusty bread makes for a sandwich that holds up better. A nice roll also makes a sandwich feel like more of a treat.
3) Choose really high quality deli meat. This turkey I used was a store baked turkey breast, meaning that itβs cooked on sight and isnβt filled with additives and preservatives. The store I purchase this from only makes enough for about a day, and sometimes sells out. You might be surprised what your local supermarket has, this turkey is just from a nice ShopRite near me. You could make your own deli turkey breast, but that would take away the ease of this meal prep, so just find the best quality that is available to you.
4) Pile high with the meat for high protein. These sandwiches contained about 40g of protein each.
5) Oregano. The ingredient that makes this taste like a deli sub.
6) PICKLES!!! If you are a pickle lover. If not maybe banana peppers? Adding vinegar makes these sandwiches too soggy, so the brininess of a pickle or banana pepper is needed [for my taste buds at least].
The ingredients I used:
ciabatta rolls, store baked turkey breast, american & provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, salt, pepper, oregano, mayo
