Iโm out solo camping at 1600 metres in the stunning Victorian High Country, and this is truly one of those trips that reminds me why I do this. Camping alone at high elevation is something you just have to experience to truly understand the peace, solitude, and connection with nature it brings.
In this video, I take you to one of my favourite high elevation camp spots, surrounded by alpine snow grass and sheltered under a lone snow gum. With my swag rolled out and a crackling campfire, I watched a storm brewing over the distant mountain ranges, with views stretching all the way to Mount Hotham, where patches of snow still linger from winter.

๐ฅ Storm on the Mountain. Storm on the Fire.
While the storm rolled in above the ranges, I had my own storm cooking on the fire โ a juicy campfire-cooked steak with steamed veggies, all prepared in the open air, surrounded by nothing but silence and the scent of burning wood. Campfire cooking hits different when youโre completely alone in the wild.
