Safety precautions I took on my first solo camping trip #carcamping #shorts #solofemaletraveler

“How do you stay safe?!”

Staying safe on my first solo trip was my top priority. 👏🏼

In addition to staying at a campsite that I was familiar with and bringing several forms of protection, I am confident in using my voice and body to protect myself. 😤

Sure, alone was kinda scary but I did everything I could to prepare for what I was scared of and I ended up having a great time. I don’t want to let my fears hold me back from doing things I love and I shouldn’t have to wait for someone else to be free so I can go on an adventure!

Here’s what I brought to stay safe:

🐻 Bear spray
🚨 @shes_birdie personal alarm
🔪 Pocket knife
😤 Whistle
🔒 Carabiners to use as “locks” for my tent
🪑 An to make it look like I wasn’t alone

🚘 I parked the car facing the road so I wouldn’t have to back out if I needed to make a quick escape.

And the most important thing I did on my solo trip was 👏🏼trust my gut👏🏼
