Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! The Boito B-300/1 Nimrod, produced by E.R. Amantino (Boito) of Brazil in the 1950s, represents an interesting chapter in the company’s early history. Created during the transition period when blacksmith João Boito partnered with businessman Elias Ruas Amantino to form E.R. Amantino & Cia Ltda., this distinctive single-shot pistol showcases the company’s early experimentation with handgun designs. The break-action pistol features an 18-inch overall length with a 12-inch barrel, chambered in .44 caliber. Notable aesthetics include checkered wooden grips and decorative coiled snake emblems on both sides. Though an unusual departure from the company’s later focus on shotguns, it demonstrates the craftsmanship that would later help establish Boito as a major firearms manufacturer exporting to over 24 countries. While the B-300/1 Nimrod remained a limited production model, Boito went on to become Brazil’s prominent shotgun manufacturer, particularly known for their double-barrel designs marketed internationally under the Stoeger brand name.
