POTD: Darth Vader’s EDC Seems Made Up – The Star Megastar

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! When Spanish gunmaker Star introduced the pistol in 10mm and .45 ACP in the 1990s, they envisioned a powerful, imposing sidearm built like a blaster. With its and massive double-stack magazines holding 12-14 rounds, the Star packed a punch worthy of knocking stormtroopers off their feet. Yet like the Death Star, the ’s bulky size was a weakness, dooming it to limited production and sales. When the 10mm craze faded, so did the Megastar – under 5,000 were made before it was discontinued in 1995. Though it failed commercially, Star had created a formidable force in the Megastar. Notably, James Earl Jones, famous for playing Darth Vader, owned this particular Megastar, likely drawn to its imposing presence and firepower.
