The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.2!
In this tutorial, we set out in search of Mushroom Islands and Frozen Oceans, two biomes with rare resources we haven’t encountered in the series so far!
The Mushroom Island is home to Mycelium, a dirt variant with some unique properties. We explore how to grow giant mushrooms, how mycelium spreads to dirt, and what happens when Mycelium and Grass blocks are planted in the same place! We also discuss how the Mushroom Fields biome doesn’t spawn hostile mobs (except for phantoms), and how players can use that to our advantage.
We also meet the inhabitants of the Mushroom Fields – Mooshrooms! These cow variants can be milked for regular milk and also mushroom stew. They drop raw beef and leather just like normal cows, but you can even shear them for some red mushrooms, and a rare brown variant can occur rarely during breeding, or if a mooshroom is struck by lightning!
Later, we head out to a Frozen Ocean biome to discuss the many types of ice blocks, how Ice differs from Packed Ice and Blue Ice, and why mining out an iceberg with Silk Touch might be a better approach than ice farming!
