GunCon: The Best Accessories of the Show

GunCon 2025 was an intense week filled with energy; coincidentally, it also marked Ohio’s hottest week of the year, with temperatures soaring into the 90s and humidity reaching uncomfortable levels. Despite the weather, manufacturers, creators, and fans showed up in full force. Cleveland and Northeast Ohio displayed the best of the industry—more on the event here.

The best part of an event like GunCon is that it gives manufacturers room to breathe. At events like the Shot Show, NRAAM, and the Great American Outdoor Show, large manufacturers such as Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Sig Sauer dominate the scene, consuming the spotlight and making it challenging for smaller or newer companies to stand out. GunCon is different. The biggest names aren’t there. Instead, companies that focus on innovation and create cool products that address real problems shine.

What I Saw

Below are accessory manufacturers that offered something cool and unique to the shooter. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to visit every booth and speak with everyone, but I think I did find some cool stuff. Hopefully, in the future, some of these products may be featured on this blog, allowing me to provide you with real-world and practical experience.

Aim Surplus: An Ohio retailer that offers its own line of products. This includes a series of affordable replacement Glock slides. These slides contain a rich feature set such as porting, slide serrations, Cerakote finishes, and an optics cut.

Caldwell: I am not a shotgunner, at least not in the traditional clay sports. I mainly shoot a defensive shotgun. However, Caldwell’s new Claycopter changes that. This contraption fires off specialty clays away from you, kind of like a helicopter flying through the air. The Claycopter can shoot multiple clays at a time, and its power can be adjusted. Trust me, this is a fun thing to bring to your next family gathering.

Herrington Arms: Herrington is another local Ohio company. They specialize in pistol accessories—specifically compensators. While they offer a universal comp that will fit nearly any pistol, the rest of their models follow the lines of your selected handgun to provide a better fit and aesthetic. However, new for GunCon is the Anchor light weight, which fits Streamlight TLR-1 models. Built for competitive shooters, the Anchor adds front-end weight to reduce muzzle rise. It also meets competition compliance.

Kinetic Development Group (KDG): Known for SCAR accessories and parts, KDG is now making precision rifle solutions. Their KINECT line of M-Lok quick disconnect mounts now includes options for the Garmin Xero, allowing you to attach it to your rifle quickly. They also make a series of quick-disconnect optic mounts using similar technologies. However, my favorite item is the Optics Hub Spotting Scope case. This hub not only protects the optics but also allows the user to add accessories, such as a red dot, Garmin Xero, or Kestrel (and anything you can think of that mounts to M-Lok). They also make a night vision attachment for the Hub.

Meprolight: an Israeli company known for its red dot sights, is now producing magnified optics. The MVO series of optics includes enticing features for long-range shooters. The magnification ranges are as follows: 1-8×28, 3-18×44, and 6-36×56. All models have reticles set in the first focal plane. As for construction, Meprolight utilizes German Schott, which provides the optics with 92% light transmission, low aberration, and edge-to-edge sharpness.

NeoMag: Guess what? Another Ohio company! (There happens to be a lot on this list.) NeoMag is known for manufacturing concealed carry solutions, including the Alias Belt Carrier and the NeoMag. However, at GunCon, they debuted the NeoMag Gen II. The Gen II features a Cerakote titanium pocket clip with canting adjustment, 6061 aluminum plates that reduce weight by 33%, two concealed neodymium magnets for double the retention, and a rounded and tumbled bracket for comfort—quite the upgrade compared to the original.

Radian Weapons: The Oregon manufacturer is widely known for their Raptor charging handles and Talon safeties. While they are primarily recognized for their AR-15 line of products, Radian has expanded into pistol accessories with the Ramjet + Afterburner series of barrels and compensators. This year, the line has extended to slimline Glock pistols, including G43, G43Xs, and G48s. I have a Sig P365 outfitted with this, and after shooting a Glock 43X at range day, it reinforced my belief that this is one of the best accessories for reducing recoil.

RifleSpeed: This could be the most beneficial add-on for gas gun shooters. The Rifle Speed adjustable gas block is a radial system that allows users to precisely dial gas for their rifle, ammunition, and combination. Turn the adjustment knob up or down to adjust the gas flow. If that still doesn’t provide proper adjustment, you can quickly swap out to a different length plunger. For RifleSpeed, it’s about optimization and quick adjustment.

Recover Tactical: Glock chassis aren’t new, and there are many out there of varying quality. However, Recover Tactical offers unique options at a great value to enhance your Glock pistol’s capabilities. Think of it as the ultimate truck gun built on a platform you already own. The chassis is modular, with a wide range of accessories. They fit both 9mm models as well as 10mm and 45 ACPs. And because they have brace options, there’s no need to Form 1 a pistol into an SBR.

Romeo Hotel Engineering: Yes, another Ohio company. Romeo Hotel took social media by storm when they introduced the Thicc-Boi-12 Silencer. This is a two-barreled silencer made for the DP-12 double-barreled tactical shotgun. Yes, it’s crazy. And yes, the name fits. They also introduced a new Gyroscopic Muzzle brake. Yes, it spins. And the faster you shoot the weapon, the quicker it revs up. And without losing you on the particulars of how it works, watch this video.

Shaw Barrels: Carbon fiber is all the rage for creating a lightweight barrel. But what about titanium? Shaw barrels of Western Pa have designed a titanium-sleeved barrel. The core is made of 416R stainless steel, which has been fitted with a titanium sleeve. A small air gap is present between the materials to facilitate cooling. The demo rifle shot was chambered in 7mm Back Country. A hot new round developed by Federal Ammunition using a Peak Alloy case to turn pressures up over 80,000 psi. Cool stuff.

Warden Studios: And the last Ohio company on this list. Communications equipment can be expensive. Radios, push-to-talk cables, adapters, and headsets make it difficult for everyday people to afford. Warden identified this problem and provided a unique solution. They retrofit popular electronic ear protection with boom mics and push-to-talk cables that connect to radios or phones. This significantly lowers the cost and barrier to entry. For those interested, the retrofit cost ranges from $125 to $150, with additional cable bundle options. You will need to send in an existing set of ear protection, but this was one of the most exciting accessories I saw at the show.

Zooming Out

I highly recommend attending some form of show, whether it’s GunCon, NRAAM, or another; it’s a rare opportunity to engage with the 2A community. However, I think GunCon is unique, which positions itself as one of the best. Where else can you mingle with your favorite creators, innovative brands, and others who share your hobby?
