Fjällräven Samlaren: A Sustainable Collection

For those not familiar with Fjällräven, you’re in for a treat. Spring 2021 sees the launch of a new line of products that encompasses everything that this Swedish outdoor brand stands for: . It’s no ordinary line of outdoor clothing and gear, and couldn’t be more on point and relevant if it tried. As such, we’re pretty darn excited to share the news with you!

Collectible products that will be released in recurring,
limited capsule collections

But first, let me tell you a little bit about Fjällräven and why the brand ticks so many boxes for Cool of the Wild. For one, their products and clothing boast some of the most aesthetic designs out there. With colourways, styling and designs that bridge the gap between casual and highly technical almost seamlessly, it’s no wonder that Fjällräven are one of ’s most classic outdoor companies. They also happen to be rather popular all over the world with their products being sold in over 70 countries.

Secondly, Fjällräven don’t do average when it comes to quality. Uniquely, they don’t just create products that live up to buyer expectations, they also hold a huge amount of value in developing materials that do their job and do it ruddy well. Where possible, Fjällräven uses natural materials like wool, cotton, and down. And when that’s not available or appropriate they just go and fashion their own synthetic alternatives. Yep, they’re that good!

Finally, and most importantly, sustainability is at the core of everything they do, and always has been. Even during their early years in the 1960’s, the brand looked to using and reusing resources to their full potential. In fact, the very first Greenland Jacket was created with leftover fabric. Founder, Åke Nordin, used up extra fabric that was too heavy to be used in the development of the ground-breaking Thermo Tent. Pretty neat and forward-thinking for the time.

Introducing

So, now you know why Fjällräven is held in such high esteem, hopefully you’ll share in our excitement about their latest pledge to do even better by the environment. In spring 2021 Fjällräven launch – a limited collection of garments and packs made from leftover fabrics.

New adventures for leftover fabrics

Created from the need to make use of extra fabric and stock that they didn’t know what to do with, this unique line of products is a necessary step for such a leading company when it comes to sustainability. But it’s also a nod to the foundations of the brand that has a tradition of not letting resources go to waste.

Samlaren means “the Gatherer” in Swedish. Collected and collectible. And just so… Fjällräven!

What’s in the Samlaren collection?

Look for products bearing the Samlaren badge. These are created using leftover fabrics from Fjällräven’s mills and factories. The have unique designs and playful colour combinations, and the first Samlaren product drop is a curated collection of re-invented classics made out of surplus G-1000 fabric. These include:

  • Samlaren Jacket

    Samlaren Jacket

Available in men’s and women’s, this jacket is a re-imagination of the classic Greenland Jacket, one of Fjällräven’s earliest creations.

The iconic Kånken backpack is one of Fjällräven’s most popular products. The Samlaren range has been re-imagined using bold colourways.

This updated version of the Fjällräven features striking colourways that will not fail to turn heads. The Samlaren badge is also a great talking point.

Fjällräven Samlaren is limited

One of the most exciting things about the new Samlaren range is that, in theory, it won’t last long. Fjällräven’s commitment to more sustainable practices means that they are striving for better systems and production techniques that eliminate the existence of leftover fabrics. Should they succeed in their mission, Samlaren will become obsolete. So, if you love the idea of getting your hands on something that is truly unique, sustainable and of the best quality out there, then you’ll need to move fast!

It’s time to make responsible consumerism the norm,
and that starts with you
