Daiwa’s NEW 23 LEXA Baitcaster Reel

Daiwa has announced their next generation of LEXA low-profile baitcasting reels. With almost a cult-like following by anglers chasing big fish in fresh and saltwater, this low-profile big fish has been redesigned. Still, capable of the long casts and easy palmability that anglers love, the new 23 LEXA is better than ever. Available in both a 300 and 400 size with multiple model options in each size, the new 23 reels come with two handle options. A single power handle or a double paddle handle, both options though come with EVA knobs for increased durability and grip.

Structure-wise on the new 23 LEXA the frame and side plates are made from machined aluminum. This keeps the gear train of the reel in precise alignment, so even under the pressure of a big fish the gearing stays smooth and wears minimally. The gear train itself is unique to the 23 LEXA and uses hardened brass for the main gear and pinion gear for added durability. The material was selected specifically so the 23 LEXA can fish day after day with big heavy lures and high drag fights and just keep on trucking. For casting Daiwa has put in their proven MAGFORCE cast control system letting anglers fine-tune the spool tension and castability easily on the nonhandle side of the reel. The drag of the reel is Daiwa’s Ultimate Tournament (UTD) system capable of 25 pounds of drag pressure

“It’s a great reel choice for anything from saltwater to muskie fishing or any application where you need a larger low-profile reel. We’re seeing a lot of opportunities with this reel in where anglers are throwing big swimbaits and bucktails for snook. We’re also seeing it take off on the for everything from yellowtail to calico bass; even guys fishing bluefin tuna will want it. Then you’ve got your striped bass markets, where the reel fits perfectly,” adds Mills.
