Today’s adventure brings us out to the beautiful Texas hill country to a town known by many as the cowboy capital of the world. Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera Texas is a park that I’ve become recently familiar with through its extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails.
However, today I decided to spend a few nights at the park truck camping, hiking, exploring and, most importantly, cooking over an open fire.
If you’ve been following the channel recently, you know that I;ve been making an effort to do more cooking in my cast iron skillets, grills and my dutch oven.
In this adventure I experiment with some dutch oven recipes that are a first for me and are also beginner friendly. Dutch oven pizza is on the menu for night one and I had an absolute blast cooking this over the coals. we also cooked some chicken wings in a cast-iron skillet over an open flame and they came out delicious.
For night two, we dedicated most of our time and energy to making a delicious dutch oven chili. I think it came out great. Especially considering, it was our first time cooking these dishes in a dutch oven.
Overall, we had a blast camping, cooking, hiking and exploring at Hill country State Natural Area and we’re glad you came along for the adventure.
Feel free to stick around and subscribe so you don’t miss out on the next adventure!
