Campfire Cooking – Dutch Oven Sourdough Bread – NO BRIQUETTES!

Today at camp we are going to be cooking over hot coals. I’m not going to be using charcoal briquettes that you buy. Today I’m going to be using firewood. I’m going to give you some tips on how to pick out the best for you needs, how to dig the right size hole to cook in, how to choose the right method of cooking with (charcoal vs firewood) and how to get started. I love to bake fresh bread and I taught myself how to cook it in a so that we can have fresh bread wherever we go. It can be intimidating to learn to cook over a fire but it is so worth and its an invaluable skill to have. Not only can you cook in a at camp, but if your power goes out then you can still cook bread. is the way our ancestors cooked and you can cook anything in a Dutch oven that you can cook in a regular oven. It just takes a bit of time and practice to learn how to do it.
