I’m always interested in gear that claims to deliver more sensitivity with less weight. A lot of companies say it, but it usually comes with trade-offs. So, when I got the chance to fish the Trika Ti100 baitcast reel paired with the Trika 3X 6’8” medium rod, I wanted to find out if their light-but-strong reputation held up on the water. Any excuse to escape to the lake is a good one, and this combo gave me the perfect reason. Check out all of my thoughts, critiques, and criticisms in our full review here today. Let’s dive in!

What It’s Made For – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
I paired this combo for freshwater bass fishing with reaction baits and light plastics. The 6’8” medium action provides enough backbone to drive hooks cleanly while staying light in the hand. The Ti100 reel is designed for controlled casting and light spool start-up, which made it a natural match for a topwater bait like the Berkley Krej. I also knew it should be able to slow down when the bite changed and switch to soft plastics without feeling out of place.
First Impressions – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
When I unboxed the combo, the first thing I noticed was the weight. Or the lack of it. The rod feels almost airy but not flimsy. The reel has a compact, streamlined build with a matte finish that looks refined rather than flashy. Together, the combo feels intentionally designed. Oh boy, it made me want to tie on a bait right away.

Build Quality – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
Rod: The Trika 3X uses multi-directional Toray carbon fiber designed to reduce blank twist and improve sensitivity. The skeleton-style reel seat keeps your hand directly connected to the blank, and the split-grip EVA handles are slim but secure. One of my favorite things about the rod is how easily vibrations travel into your palm. It gives you constant feedback without having to think about it. There is one commonly mentioned drawback from other anglers. Some have said the carbon fiber handle can feel slick if your hands are wet and that the rod is not the best option for true heavy-cover pitching.
Reel: The Ti100 reel uses a magnesium and aluminum frame to stay rigid under load. The spool start-up is very light, which helps when casting smaller or lighter baits. The carbon fiber drag is rated to 14 pounds, and the handle knobs have a tacky feel when wet. A few reviewers have mentioned they wished the reel were slightly smoother under maximum drag pressure, but performance overall is strong.
Rating: 9/10

Balance and Comfort – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
The combo balances at the reel seat and feels neutral in your hand. Because the rod is so light, it does not tip forward or back while casting. I fished the combo for several hours and did not experience hand or wrist fatigue. If you enjoy equipment that feels like an extension of your wrist, this combo fits that style perfectly.
Rating: 9.5/10
Casting and Line Management – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
With the Krej tied on, casts were long and controllable. The spool engages quickly, which also makes short, target casts easy. I had to dial the brakes slightly early on, but once set, the reel cast smoothly and predictably.
Rating: 9/10
Sensitivity and Feedback – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
This is where the combo stands out. While working the Krej, I could feel the lure pulsing and gliding just under the surface. When the sun came up and I switched to a Baby Brush Hog, I felt bottom changes and light pickups clearly. The rod transmits feedback without feeling too stiff or fast.
Rating: 9.5/10

Power, Drag and Fighting Performance – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
A 2-pound bass smoked the Krej at the bank and made three jumps followed by a strong run. My drag was set a bit too tight at first, so I reached over with my thumb and adjusted it with one smooth motion. The drag let out line cleanly and consistently with no jerking. The rod’s backbone controlled the fish easily. Later, I caught three more bass on the Brush Hog, all under a pound and a half, and each one came to hand without any issue.
Rating: 9/10

Versatility – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
This combo handles both moving baits and slower, bottom-contact baits well. The rod has enough tip to work topwater baits and enough power to set hooks securely. I would not recommend it for heavy grass or punching, but for open water, bank fishing, ponds, and general bass fishing, it covers a wide range of techniques effectively.
Rating: 9/10
Value and Price Point – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
This is a premium combo. It is not priced for the bargain category. The Ti100 reel typically retails between $299 and $399, while the Trika 3X rod comes in around $199. That puts the full setup in the roughly $500 to $600 range.
This is not an entry-level combo, but the price reflects what you get. The reduced weight, high sensitivity, and overall balance are noticeable from the first cast. For anglers who value feel and control, the cost makes sense.
Rating: 8.0/10
Field Notes – Trika Ti100 Baitcast Reel and Trika 3x Rod
I fished this setup on my local lake. I started with the Berkley Krej during the early topwater window. The rod and reel made it easy to walk the bait and stay connected to the action. After the sun climbed higher, I switched to a Baby Brush Hog and slowed the presentation. I received four bites and landed three fish, with clear feel and solid hooksets throughout.
The Verdict
Best For: Anglers who want high sensitivity, low fatigue, and precise bait control. Excellent for topwaters, jerkbaits, light Texas rigs, and open-water bass fishing.
Avoid If: You fish heavy cover, thick vegetation, or prefer heavy-power rods.
Overall Rating: 9.1/10
The Trika Ti100 and Trika 3X combo delivers a connected, responsive feel between your hand, the line, the bait, and the fish. It is light without feeling weak and sensitive without being jumpy. If you enjoy a rod and reel that let you stay engaged with your bait and the water, this combo delivers that experience.
