When it comes to trail cameras – cellular or otherwise – hunters only think of the given season that they are hunting and never beyond or outside of it. This is normal, and logical, but a lot of information and data can be gathered if you leave your trail cameras out in the field for extended periods of time, or year-round for that matter. It is a practice I have not only preached, but exercised for years. It allowed me to learn where the “ghost bucks” go, where predators are coming from that threaten game animals, and it has made me re-think how I hunt altogether. So, while it might be winter in my home state of Minnesota (we just got slammed with another winter storm), it is still a perfect time to research and study some new cellular trail cameras that had been sent my way in the new Tactacam Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0. Let’s dive in!

What’s in the Box?
One of the most common and recurring questions I receive reviewing products and their related accessories is, “what’s in the box?” Meaning, what do you all get with your purchase. This is important because what you do and do not get will dictate what type of accessories you need to additionally buy depending on what you want your end-product to be. All this being said, this is everything that you will receive:
- Cellular Trail Camera
- Antenna
- Tree Strap
- Integrated SIM Card
***Applicable for both the Tactacam Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0 cellular trail cameras***

Activation – Tactacam Reveal Ultra & Reveal Pro 3.0
When it came to activating these cellular trail cameras from Tactacam it was one of the simplest procedures I have ever gone through in regards to getting trail cameras up and running. When you pop open the hatch or cover to the trail camera, there is a black and white QR code that you can scan with your smart phone. Then, you are simply run through a set of prompts on your phone. Within maybe 5 minutes time, you will have your Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0 cellular trail cameras functioning correctly and capturing photos for you.
To take a step back, I also appreciated that Tactacam does several things to make this experience as affordable as possible:
- Trade in trail cameras for a $50 credit towards new ones
- Data plans as low as $5/month with discounts for multiple cameras
- No activation fees

Field Use – Tactacam Reveal Ultra & Reveal Pro 3.0
So, how did the Tactacam Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0 cellular trail cameras actually perform out in the field?… I’m not going to “bury the lead” on this one… they performed wonderfully. Throughout the months of December through February in Minnesota, we saw temps and wind chills that routinely (why do I live in this state?…) hit -40F. All the while, these trail cameras were out in the field, capturing photos, and the batteries to this day are sitting at 90% or battery on all of them. Utterly impressive for how stupid cold it has been.
The Tactacam Reveal Ultra I was able to setup with a battery belt, which I feel like is going to extend my battery life to a year before I need to recharge it. My wife inquired why I needed a battle belt to setup trail cameras, and I loved that moniker. The Tactacam “battle belt” – you’ll never need to charge your batteries again!

I thought all of the wires and electronics going on might deter animals from passing by, but it hasn’t in the least.

I see raccoons, cottontail rabbits, squirrels, and whitetail deer daily on this game trail that I setup this cellular trail camera on.

The Tactacam Reveal Pro 3.0 I setup probably 300 yards away at a different location that I thought could be a highway for deer, and I ended up catching a lot more variety of species than I anticipated. So, having these trail cameras up over the winter was more beneficial in this spot than I thought it would be.

With a simple pre-charged battery pack (I didn’t use individual AA batteries), I strapped this Tactacam Reveal Pro 3.0 to a sturdy tree, and let er’ buck!

I was able to capture some whitetail deer, which is what I expected, along with some other unexpected animals as well.

Like a healthy coyote (that I wish wasn’t on my property).

As well as a very fluffy grey fox that looked like a flash in the night. I did also throw up a 2nd Tactacam Reveal Ultra in a clear-cut just for the fun of it to see what might pass through, and I’m glad I did.

With a solar panel attachment to extend the battery life seemingly forever, I was able to capture my only recorded photo ever of a Long-Tailed Weasel! Super rad!

I’ve trapped them before, but never had I caught one on camera. So, I am super happy to have seen this lil’ guy in my photos when I woke up one morning.
Final Thoughts
So, what are my final thoughts on the Tactacam Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0 cellular trail cameras after several months of brutally cold, Minnesota winter weather?… Overall, I came away very impressed. For one, people tout how amazing the battery life is and I can absolutely confirm that after they have endured some extremely frigid temps. Additionally, I like how crisp, clear, and vivid the photos are. There is a rarely a photo where I am squinting and wondering what I am looking at. The photo resolution is awesome. Finally, the extra accessories that Tactacam has for their cellular trail cameras are top-notch as well. The “battle belt” of batteries, extra tree straps, chargeable battery units, solar panels, and more. They are all great compliments to an already great product. I fully endorse the Tactacam Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0 cellular trail cameras if anybody is in the market for some new trail cameras.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Tactacam for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new Tactacam Reveal Ultra and Reveal Pro 3.0 cellular trail cameras. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think?
