As hunters and owners of silencers, we have had a long-standing and somewhat unreasonable request from silencer manufacturers to accomplish one thing: make a silencer that is absurdly light and still suppresses noise all the same. Sounds counterintuitive – and it is – but silencer manufacturers have gone into the lab attempting to craft that mythical silencer for many years. Dead Air Armament, or simply Dead Air, might have the closest offering to achieving that almost unrealistic goal in their Nomad 30 Ti XC. So, in this AllOutdoor Review, we are going to take a look at the Dead Air Nomad Ti XC .30 cal silencer in an FDE (Flat Dark Earth) Cerakote finish to see if this silencer is the one of our dreams for hunters. Let’s dive in!

A Word from Dead Air on the new Nomad Ti XC .30 Cal Silencer
The next chapter of the venerable Nomad Ti is here – the Nomad Ti XC. XC designates Cross-Country, a term we gave the silencer lineup that lets you go further thanks to its minimal weight, while seamlessly integrating into all of your hunts and adventures.
You already know the jaw-dropping performance of the Nomad, but with the application of additive manufacturing technologies, we’re advancing the patented Nomad baffle technology to new levels. Our Nomad XC series now features an enhanced two-stage coaxial baffle system with pressure-harnessing structures that regulate both low-pressure and high-pressure rounds. We’re squeezing even more strength per ounce out of the Nomad Ti XC while providing even better sound performance and precision, no matter what you are shooting.
Hunters and precision shooters already have enough on their minds to take, or even get the right shot. The extreme lightweight and phenomenal sound suppression make the Nomad Ti XC the ideal choice when covering distance and speed are part of the game.
What’s the Upsell? What’s the 30 Second Elevator Pitch?
There are numerous quality silencers out in the marketplace, and Dead Air makes a lot of them. So, why buy the Nomad Ti XC? What’s the upsell? What the 30-second elevator pitch for someone to dive in on this one. For me, it boils down to 3 main points:
- XC (Cross Country) – This iteration of the Nomad in the Nomad Ti XC is the lightest and most portable version yet meant for long, backcountry hunts when you don’t want an accessory to weigh you down.
- Hub Mount Compatible – No matter how you jive – direct thread, Xeno, or otherwise – with an industry standard Hub Mount system, you can hook this silencer up to your firearms however you prefer to play.
- Enhanced Two-Stage Coaxial Baffle System – We asked for better suppression for all of our hunting loads – both low-pressure and high-pressure rounds – and the Nomad Ti XC delivers on that “ask” of silencing better than ever!
What’s in the Box?
One of the most common and recurring questions I receive reviewing firearms and their related products is, “what’s in the box?” Meaning, what do you all get with your purchase. This is important because what you do and do not get will dictate what type of accessories you need to additionally buy depending on what you want your end-product or weapon system to look like. All this being said, this is everything that you will receive with a “Direct Thread” Purchase (a Xeno Adapter and 5/8″ x 24 TPI Xeno Omni Brake is included for Xeno purchases):
Included in the Box
- TL Tool Pack
- 5/8″ x 24 TPI Direct Thread HUB Mount
Field Use – Dead Air Nomad Ti XC .30 Cal Silencer
So, how did this silencer perform out on the range?… I mounted this silencer to my tried-and-true Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor for testing. Being that I opted for the Direct Thread version in the Flat Dark Earth Cerakote colorway, I simply needed to pop off the muzzle brake that comes with the rifle and hand spin on my silencer. Easy-peasy.
For an extra layer of assuredness while testing, I did apply a wrench to it that is supplied with the silencer and just gave it a gentle ugga-dugga push to ensure everything was tight.
Next, it was time to send some rounds down range to see how the silencer might affect accuracy. For the testing of this silencer, I used some new Nosler Whitetail Country Ammunition. So, a tremendous thank you is in order to Nosler for supporting this review with some of their quality ammunition. In testing, I was firing fresh Nosler Whitetail Country ammo and I was able to achieve groups anywhere from 1/4″ to 3/4″ when I was only shooting for group size. Even when I performed a tracking testing on my silencer and optic, I got groups of loosely 1″ in size – still very respectable.

As far as noise suppression, this silencer did a pretty good job of eliminating that “first round pop” – the sometimes louder first shot we take because the silencer is being filled up with gases and being put to work for the first time. Successive shots sounded pretty similar to the first. So, I was impressed by the suppression of the Nomad Ti XC.
Additionally, I noticed that the Nomad Ti XC does a really good job of flash suppression as well. So, you aren’t temporarily blinded or stunned by a flamethrower exhaling out of your silencer, and you can watch your impact on target. Within 10 rounds of fire out of my bolt gun, the silencer heated up quick and exhibited a bit of mirage, but it cooled incredibly fast as well.
Within probably 2 minutes of finishing firing, I could remove the silence by hand because it had naturally cooled that quickly. To me, that was quite impressive.
Final Thoughts
So, what are my final thoughts on the Dead Air Nomad Ti XC .30 cal silencer in an FDE (Flat Dark Earth) Cerakote finish?… Overall, this might be the best silencer I have ever tested. I’m blessed with the opportunity to shoot innumerable silencers at trade shows, I sell them through my gun shop (my day job) on a daily basis, and I own lots of them. My favorite .30 cal silencer prior to this review was the original Nomad 30. The Nomad Ti XC simply takes performance and everything else it exhibits to the next level. The $1,099 MSRP is a touch high relative to a lot of centerfire silencers, but when you factor in my high praise, it is more than worth it. If you don’t already own a .30 cal silencer – and simply want another one – take a long discerning look at this one. You’ll love it. I guarantee it.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Dead Air for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their Dead Air Nomad Ti XC .30 cal silencer. That is greatly appreciated.
