Campfire Cooking in the Forest – Venison Chili, Hot Pretzels & Changing Plans

A fun day filled with altered plans, a passing shower, wild tea by the fire, and some chili and soft pretzels that were well worth the wait. Thanks for joining us!

🄨 Pretzel Recipe:
3/4 cup bread flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp yeast
warm water to make a stiff dough
1/2 cup warm water mixed with 1 tsp baking soda
Beaten egg
Course salt for sprinkling

Mix ingredients together and let sit for 20 minutes or so, then knead for a few minutes until dough feels tight and smooth. Let rest for about 10 minutes, then form long ropes of dough. Weave onto stick, then brush with baking soda water, then egg wash. Sprinkle with course salt. Bake over coals until golden brown and cooked through – about 15 minutes.
