Is going to Walmart and putting together a survival kit, a get-home bag, or a bug-out bag a viable option? And should we do it even if it is?
Well, that’s what I want to talk about today. I decided to go to Walmart and see what survival gear I could get for $100 and put together a basic bug-out bag.
There are a few reasons why this might be a good idea, and probably more than a few why it’s not. I go into why it might not be the way to go long-term in this video, but imagine you have a family member or close friend who is interested in preparedness and has no idea where to start.
You can take them to Walmart, put this bag together in one trip, and explain why each is important. Or maybe you just started and aren’t ready to invest a whole lot of money on items you aren’t sure about.
Either way, Going this route enables you to put something together for them (or yourself) very quickly and inexpensively. While this survival kit I put together today is by no means a good setup, it is a good starter kit. Something that will get the preparedness ball rolling, and it is better than nothing.
Now, I want to be clear, this is not a recommendation to get your survival gear from Walmart or the Dollar Store. You want gear that you can depend on in a survival situation, not something that is “better than nothing”.
