Catch a Limit with the Winter Free Weekend

Come and enjoy a free weekend of this weekend, Feb. 15-16, in . Happening for two days twice a year, anyone can go out and enjoy what the waters of have to offer for free. All license fees will be waived this weekend for two days, and both Michigan residents and out-of-state visitors can go fish Michigan inland water bodies and for all species of fish. However, do keep in mind that all regulations do still apply. Additionally, a Recreation Passport will not be required for angler entry into state parks and boating access sites during this Free Fishing Weekend.

This is the perfect weekend for anglers to take out first-timers, who might not want to or be able to commit money for fishing. 2025 Michigan Free Fishing Weekend dates

  • Winter: Feb. 15-16, 2025
  • Summer: June 7-8, 2025

For anyone who wants to know when future Michigan Free Fishing Weekends will be, keep this in mind. The winter free fishing weekend is always the Saturday and Sunday of ’s Day weekend and the summer free fishing weekend is always the Saturday and Sunday following the first full week of June. So even if you can’t make it this weekend you still have until June to get ready for the next Michigan Free Fishing Weekend.
