Upgrade Your Big Bore Suppressor with the Banish 46-V2
Over the past few years we have enjoyed partnering with Silencer Central to make our hunts quieter and much, much more enjoyable. You would be hard pressed to find us in the field without a suppressed rifle and for a good reason. Well, there are actually a number of good reasons, but the number one is just how much more enjoyable hunting is when you have a quieter shooting rifle. Knowing that you won’t have ringing ears when you see your target and take a shot is a God send. If you haven’t had the chance to shoot suppressed or hunt suppressed, what are you waiting for? The purchasing process has never been easier and the turn around times have never been shorter.
Silencer Central has been in the game for years and every year they seem to drop a new suppressor or upgrade a previous model and this year was no different. As Michigan hunters, one of our top picks that Silencer Central dropped this year was the Banish 46-V2. The V-2 was a redesign on their incredibly popular Banish 46 suppressor that has been in the market for a few years. What is the 46-V2 ideal for? Well, for us, this is the perfect suppressor to pair with larger straight wall cartridge calibers like the 450 Bushmaster.
When comparing the original Banish 46 to the new Banish 46-V2, the most immediately noticeable differences is in the size, weight, and configuration. The Banish 46 offered the flexibility of a modular design—adjustable between 7.9″ and 10″ while the Banish 46-V2 consolidates that versatility into a single, compact 8″ configuration. This streamlined design results in a lighter overall weight, with the V2 tipping the scales at just 15.3 oz, compared to the original’s range of 16.3 to 20.4 oz. Both are constructed from titanium while the V2 utilizes 17-4 Stainless Steel Blast Baffles. The design of the V2 emphasizes durability and with it’s slightly smaller diameter (1.59″ vs. 1.73″) and precise baffle alignment this can is even more compact and user friendly.
In terms of performance, both suppressors cater to a wide range of calibers, from popular pistol offerings all the way up to .47-70 Government. However, while the original Banish 46 achieves up to a 34.5 dB sound reduction, the Banish 46-V2 delivers a 30 dB reduction. This slight decrease in noise suppression is more than compensated for by the V2’s improved size and more compact dimensions. The original model excels in sound reduction and modular adaptability, while the V2 refines the experience with a no-nonsense direct-thread mounting style that caters to shooters who prefer a straightforward, single-length solution.
So with all of that said, should you upgrade to the all new Banish 46-V2? For us, the answer is a solid yes! We will always have straight walled cartridge rifles in the arsenal for when we want to hunt whitetail below the Michigan rifle line. Calibers like the 450 is an absolute thumper within 200 yards and we have had great success using the caliber in years past. With more and more companies introducing new straight walled cartridges like the 400 Legend, having a suppressor like the Banish 46-V2 on hand to pair with whatever new rifle you pick up is a must!
