Today we’re doing some campfire cooking, grilling up a caveman ribeye steak and learning how to cook directly on coals. This is a new method that I’ve never tried before and I was very happy with the results!

COOK’S NOTES:
My initial approach was to flip the steak every minute as to not burn it, but after several minutes of doing it this way, I realized that was not going to be an issue. So, I let it ride on each side for a few minutes before flipping. Total cook time on this 1.5″ steak was approx 30 minutes. I’ll chalk that up to my coals not being very hot. However, the result was phenomenal. It was perfectly tender and juicy on the inside – a solid medium – with a delicious crust on the outside. I highly recommend giving the caveman method a try!
Much love and thanks to MeatHead for the challenge!
