The first step to any painting project is preparation. having a good sanding and priming job is the beat way to guarantee you will be happy with the finished ceiling.

In order to apply primer you must remember to apply pressure in order to push the paint into the drywall and then lightly back roll to remove extra paint from the surface.

After you have primed I always suggest you sand with a 220 grit sandpaper to ensure any defects have been removed.

The secret to a great job is to paint the first and second coats in opposite directions. This will enable you to have perfect paint coverage and to finish rolling in the same direction as the sun coming into the room.

Always do a light sanding in between every coat of paint. On a ceiling I suggest using a flat paint with no acrylic additive. This gives you great coverage and reduces the chance of seeing the paint lines after you are done. It also helps you do touch up work without seeing the new work.

When always remember to use a long painting pole and keep your hands below your heart. This will help fight against fatigue and make the job much easier.

The secret to a perfect ceiling paint finish is to cut and roll while keeping the leading edge of the paint wet so that everything can melt together.
