Here are 4 kitchen hacks that everyone needs to know.
1. Keep Strawberries Fresh
It’s important to fully dry strawberries before storing them to keep them from getting moldy.
After washing, use a salad spinner to drain excess water, remove to a towel to pat dry, and finish by adding a layer of parchment paper under and on top of the berries while they’re stored.
2. Keep Cutting Boards Steady
Safety should always come first in the kitchen, which includes creating a stable place to prep food.
Add a damp cloth under your cutting board to keep it from sliding around while you’re prepping ingredients.
3. Properly Preheat Stainless Steel
If you never use stainless steel because your food tends to stick, it’s probably because it hasn’t been properly preheated.
Add a couple of droplets of water to your pans to test the heat. When properly preheated, those droplets should slide around the pan like mercury.
4. Make the Most of Stock & Broth
After you make your stock/broth and let it cool to room temperature, carefully pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze.
It’s a great way to keep stock or broth on hand, so you can easily elevate the flavor of your cooking.
